A trek to SINHGAD
Pune is blessed with natural beauty around at manageable distance. Among those is pune's favourite Sinhgad fort. It is just 30 kms approx from katraj. You can get to fort by bus,bike or car.
You can trek the fort or take your bike,car to the top. There is parking available on top. There are car's waiting down they are on shared basis. You can even trek the fort enjoying astonishing views. Just park your vehicle at the base of fort and start trekking. Trek is not so difficult but should be done with care.
It takes about one hour to get to top. You can enjoy views around . There are local people who can help you with local food . Dahi and kanda bhaji are very famous food items available. Rates are fixed by government no one can charge you extra money.
You can check out Sinhgad map as you enter the fort from 'pune darwaja'. Rajgad and Torna are visible from 'kalavantini buruj' . Places to see at Sinhgad fort are >Tilak nivas, Rajgad and Torna , Tanaji kada , place where Tanaji Malusare lost his hand , Rajaram maharaj samadhi , Lohgad , Tikona
Water is available but should carry your own drinking water. December ,Jan ,Feb are best months to trek . Difficulty level is medium . It is a one day trek located in Pune . People mostly come during holidays. There is a dam Khadakwasla just a few kms from Sinhgad where you can get refreshed after trek.
Please take care that you don't dump any waste on fort and help keep it clean
